DRAWING PORTRAITS

DRAWING PORTRAITS WITH CHARCOAL AND PENCIL

TUITION $240

January 10th to February 28th
Wednesdays 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Ages: Adults and Teens
Instructor: Kristy DeFlores
Materials: All supplies for this session are included.

For students wanting to learn fundamental drawing skills, this class starts by building a strong foundation to build upon. During the first phase of the session, students will receive formal element training. Through a variety of sequential exercises, students will practice drawing with pencil and charcoal from life and photos. These exercises will focus on the basics of representational drawing: line, shape, contrast, and gradation. Students will learn to understand and reproduce natural contour line, proportion, and shadow of shapes. The combination of all these learned elements will help produce an element of realism in their artwork. People can be difficult to draw but you will be given helpful tips that will help simplify the process. During the second phase of the session, students will apply their learned skills to create a portrait drawing .

What Our Clients Are Saying

After my first class, I went on to take many of Miss. Kristy’s other classes year after year, and eventually, when I became too old for them, I started helping her as a counselor- in-training. I have had a TON of art teachers in my life, and I will always say that Miss. Kristy is by far my favorite. I cannot think of a single time where she ever told me to give up on something or made me feel like I should stop trying. She was always so supportive of me, especially when I was creating my college portfolio. In fact, I really miss her now that I am off in college because even after a year of college professors, I still see her as one of the most helpful and amazing teachers I have ever had.
